A total of five charges have been brought against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and three others in a case of crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising.
The five charges are making provocative statements, ordering the use of lethal weapons to eliminate protesters, shooting dead Begum Rokeya University student Abu Sayeed in Rangpur, shooting dead six protesters in the capital's Chankharpul area, and burning six people to death in Ashulia.

The verdict in the case against Sheikh Hasina for crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising is being announced today. The verdict is scheduled to be broadcast live from the courtroom of the International Crimes Tribunal-1. This is the first case filed for crimes against humanity, including murders during the uprising, and the verdict is scheduled to be delivered today, Monday.
The three-member International Crimes Tribunal-1, headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumder, will announce the verdict in the case. The other two members of this tribunal are Justice Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Judge Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.
In the hearing of this case, the prosecution (state party) has repeatedly said that Sheikh Hasina was the mastermind (planner), order-giver and superior commander (highest instructer) of all types of crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising.
Apart from Sheikh Hasina, the other two accused in the case are former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun. Of the three accused, Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman are absconding. Both are currently residing in India.

In a briefing at the tribunal premises on Sunday, Prosecutor Gazi Monwar Hussain Tamim said that they have been able to prove the five charges brought against the accused beyond a reasonable doubt. In the interest of justice, the prosecution will accept whatever order the tribunal gives.
The prosecutor said that the part of the verdict in this case that the tribunal will read out will be broadcast live with the permission of the tribunal.
The National Central Bureau (NCB) of Bangladesh Police had applied to the international police organization Interpol to issue a 'red notice' against Sheikh Hasina.
Prosecutor Gazi Monwar said that if the tribunal punishes Sheikh Hasina in the verdict, the prosecution will apply to Interpol for another 'conviction warrant' (warrant of sentence) to issue a red notice against her.
