The 26th Chief Justice of Bangladesh was sworn in at Bangabhaban on Sunday.

Justice Zubair Rahman Chowdhury will take oath as the 26th Chief Justice of Bangladesh at Bangabhaban on Sunday. He will succeed the current Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed.

The 26th Chief Justice of Bangladesh was sworn in at Bangabhaban on Sunday.

According to the constitution, the outgoing current Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed will officially retire today, December 27. He will complete 67 years.


Justice Zubair Rahman Chowdhury did another Masters in International Law in the UK after completing his LLB Honors and LLM degrees from Dhaka University. He was enrolled as an advocate in the Judges' Court in 1985 and in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court in 1987.

During the then BNP government, Zubair Rahman Chowdhury was appointed as an additional judge in the High Court Division on August 27, 2003. Two years later, his appointment in the High Court Division became permanent. Finally, on August 12, 2024, President Mohammad Shahabuddin appointed him as a judge of the Appellate Division.
