High Court Division Justice Naima Haider and Justice Mamnoon Rahman resigns
Justice Naima Haider of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court has submitted her resignation. Expressing her intention to resign, she submitted her resignation to the President through the Chief Justice on February 5.

The Supreme Court’s High Court (HC) Division judges Justice Naima Haider and Justice Mamnoon Rahman have stood down.
Their letters of resignation have been forwarded to the president, a notice issued on Monday by the Supreme Court (SC)said.
Justice Mamnoon sent his resignation letter to the president via the chief justice in an email dated Feb 2, while Justice Naima Haider tendered her resignation in person, according to the notice.
A press release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Supreme Court, Md. Shafiqul Islam, gave this information on Monday. Justice Naima Haider was among the 12 judges of the High Court Division who were suspended from judicial work since October 20, 2024.
The release further informed that Justice Mamun Rahman of the High Court Division submitted his resignation to the President through the Chief Justice of the country in a letter sent via e-mail on February 2, expressing his intention to resign.
The notification said that the resignation letters of two judges from the Bangladesh Supreme Court have been sent to the President.
Supreme Court Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiqui told Prothom Alo, "A preliminary investigation was started in the Supreme Judicial Council regarding Justice Naima Haider. She submitted her resignation letter citing personal reasons. The resignation letters were sent to the President on the same day the two judges submitted their resignation letters."
Earlier, the second senior-most judge of the High Court Division, Mamnun Rahman, submitted his resignation letter to the President on February 2 citing personal reasons. The resignation letter of this judge was sent to the office of the Registrar General of the Supreme Court via e-mail from outside the country. He had been serving as a judge of the High Court Division for more than two decades.
Naima Haider, the third senior-most judge of the High Court Division, obtained LLB and LLM degrees from Dhaka University. Later, he obtained LLM and PhD degrees from Columbia University. He was enrolled as a district court lawyer in 1989. He was enrolled as a lawyer in the High Court Division in 1993 and in the Appellate Division in 2004. He was appointed as an additional judge in the High Court Division on June 30, 2009. He was appointed as a judge in the same division on June 6, 2011.
